Basic Meat Marinade

This basic marinade is probably in every church and small town cookbook I have ever read. The names vary from place to place. Whatever you call it, it is delicious and easy. Change the soda flavor to enhance whatever meat you are using.

Whisk together.  Dump everything in a zip-lock and shake, then rotate every hour. Marinate 3-4 hours.

My son uses Dr Pepper, I like sprite for chicken and fish. My ex used a Pepsi. Beer can also be used for brats.

Note: A second favorite marinade and cooking sauce is grape jelly and ketchup. Apple Jelly and BBQ sauce works well too. I don’t know who comes up with these. They work though.

Ingredients
  • 2 part soda pop any flavor
  • 1 part soy sauce
  • 1 part olive oil
  • ½ tsp. horseradish
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
Instructions
  1. Whisk all ingredients together.
  2. Add meat to a zip-lock bag.
  3. Pour marinade into bag and shake gently to coat all meat.
  4. Rotate bag every hour.
  5. Marinate 3-4 hours.
Notes
Use lemon lime soda and ginger ale for fish and chicken, cola or Dr pepper for beef and pork.
